• Get to Know the Cast of THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO

    By COC Staff

Opening January 27, Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro comes to life through the combined efforts of our world-class cast and creative team. Exploring the lives of four couples on the eve of a wedding, Figaro is a masterwork of frustrated desires and mistaken identity, punctuated by one of opera’s most luminous scores. The show’s many characters are uniquely human, with rich inner lives and complex motivations, demanding an all-star ensemble cast such as this one—ripe with COC favourites and exceptional company debuts—to do Mozart’s vision justice.

Read on to meet the stars of the show!

    Luca Pisaroni, bass-baritone
    Figaro
Previous COC appearance: Maometto in Rossini’s Maometto II, 2016

“The charismatic bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni was a chilling and complex Maometto. His dashing stage presence and virile voice exuded menacing authority. Maometto’s music, especially his first aria, which comes after the shock of realizing he has been romancing his enemy’s daughter, is full of florid passage work and brilliant coloratura runs.” —The New York Times

    Andrea Carroll, soprano
    Susanna
    COC debut

“Carroll is a vibrant, expressive singing actor whose supple soprano sounds at home in a wide variety of rep, from Donizetti, Rossini, and Mozart; to Stephen Sondheim and Frank Loesser.” —Opera News

    Gordon Bintner, bass-baritone
    Count Almaviva
Last COC appearance: Papageno in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, 2022

“Bintner makes for a fantastic Papageno—his rich baritone easily covers the vocal requirements of the role, and his expressiveness makes for a hilarious, empathetic, and easy to love birdcatcher.” —Broadway World

    Lauren Fagan, soprano
    Countess
    COC debut

“Fagan, one of today’s finest young sopranos, is exceptional throughout and a superb actor. Her tone blazes with existential defiance and desperation, and she possesses both the agility for act one—‘Sempre libera’ is capped by a dazzling top E flat—and the dramatic weight for the closing scenes.” —The Guardian

    Emily Fons, mezzo-soprano
    Cherubino
Last COC appearance: Hansel in Humperdinck’s Hansel & Gretel, 2020

“Fons seems to be at the onset of a most impressive career. Her singing was an iridescent wave of vocal color as she captured her character’s delicious moments of indecision.” —Opera Today

See these incredible artists in action starting Friday, January 27! The show runs January 27 and 29, as well as February 2, 4, 10, 12, 16, and 18.
