A behind-the-scenes look at the digital transformation of the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts
With the start of September upon us, the COC’s performance home at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts is looking very different than it did just a few short months ago.
On the outside – bright new signs share our exciting lineup of digital fall offerings!
And on the inside – newly installed recording and broadcast equipment is already in-use, as artists and creative teams come together to produce programming designed with the remote viewing experience in mind.
The Digital Infrastructure Enhancement Project was made possible through the generous support of the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund. In transforming the opera house, the Canadian Opera Company will be able to provide more access than ever to Canadian opera, its creators, and the COC’s growing network of artistic collaborators.
Earlier this summer, our crews had the chance to conduct a series of test filming sessions. The goal? Making sure everything was in top shape for a very busy fall lineup.
In R. Fraser Elliott Hall, top-of-the-line video cameras have been discreetly positioned around the auditorium to present all angles of what’s happening on stage…
…while crystal-clear zoom capabilities bring audiences closer than ever before to artists and musicians.
Away from the stage, our stage crews and technicians are capturing every moment from the control room. From here, they can operate our cameras, adjust the audio being recorded, and communicate and collaborate with lighting designers and stage management – they are our technical magicians.
We can’t wait for you to experience it all for yourself!
It all kicks off with
