A First Look at Standing Room
By Cecily CarverPosted in Four Seasons CentreMy lovely colleagues and I had a chance this week to test-drive the new standing room area at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, and I'm excited to show you the first photos of the new spots! With these tickets priced at $12, a night at the opera is more accessible than ever, and I hope these pictures give you a good sense of what the standing room experience will be like.
There's a wide, smooth wooden railing to lean on . . .
. . . and hooks where you can hang your coats and purses.
The standing room area is only one row deep, so you don't have to worry about standing behind someone taller than you.
You can see from this picture that there's a full view of the stage . . .
. . . and there will always be enough room to stretch your legs.
The standing room spots are located at the rear of Rings 3 and 4, and can be purchased from the box office the day of the performance. This Saturday's Ben Heppner recital will be your first chance to take advantage. If you want to see Heppner but would rather be seated for the experience, a limited number of regular tickets are still available.
The program for the recital is now online, featuring repertoire by Sibelius, Grieg, and Tchaikovsky. This Saturday afternoon's performance promises to be a real treat—and whether you decide to stand or be seated, we'd love for you to join us.
