    What a difference 20 years makes. I had the great pleasure of making my Canadian Opera Company debut with this production of Elektra in 1997 at the invitation of the late Richard Bradshaw.  It was his idea to pair two great Strauss one-acts, Elektra and Salome, using many of the same physical elements but with two very different directors.

  • Announcing the 2019 Orchestra Academy

    The Canadian Opera Company Orchestra Academy welcomes five student musicians to join its sixth annual training intensive, taking place January 6 – 26, 2019. Led by COC Music Director Johannes Debus, and in collaboration with The Glenn Gould School at the Royal Conservatory of Music, the Schulich School of Music of McGill University and the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music, the program offers its student musicians one-on-one mentorship and practical experience in their pursuit of a career in an opera orchestra.
